Steve Kerr Talks About The Mindset That Caused Klay Thompson’s Outburst vs. Suns

Klay Thompson's 38-point performance was crucial in Golden State's victory over the Phoenix Suns, marking their first win against their division rivals this season.

Thompson's eight 3-pointers in the first half alone helped build a commanding 25-point lead for the Warriors, ultimately proving too much for the Suns to overcome.

Steve Kerr credits Thompson's recent positive mindset as a key factor in his explosive performance against the Suns.

Thompson had struggled in the previous two losses against Phoenix, but was extra motivated to bounce back and set the tone for his team.

The win against the Suns is a statement for the Warriors, who are still playing without Kevin Durant.

“I just think Klay’s been in such a great place now for a while, several months,” Kerr said on the postgame podium.

“The two early Phoenix losses he struggled, showed a lot of frustration. I know it felt good for him to have that huge first half, regardless of who we were playing. But as I said, this is a division rival and a team that’s beaten us three straight. We know how big a game it was and Klay knew how big it was. He came out and set the tone.”

The victory also reinforces the Warriors' championship aspirations, as they continue to find success against tough opponents.

Golden State's performance against the Suns shows that they have the potential to compete at a high level and contend for another championship.
