‘Squid Game’ Wins A 2021 American Film Institute Award
The Hallyu wave is sweeping the globe, and its brightness is not lost on fans and critics alike.
At the 92nd Academy Awards in 2019, ‘Parasite’ became the first Korean film to win four awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film.
It was also the first non-English film to win Best Picture.
The Netflix drama ‘Squid Game,’ which once again gambles on the hazards of living as poor, desperate people in a world full of rich vultures, is South Korea’s other pride.
Since its premiere on September 17, 2021, Hwang Dong Hyuk’s invention has been the most-watched Netflix show of all time, with a revenue of over 900 million dollars.
As of December 10, ‘Squid Game’ received a Special Award from the American Film Institute (AFI), which honors the year’s top films and television episodes.
It is the only non-English winner this year, and it is well-deserved. The AFI Awards ceremony for 2021 will take place on January 7, 2022.
