‘Squid Game’ Director Confirms Season 2 With The Return Of These Characters

Fans of the series were treated to a surprise at the Los Angeles screening of ‘Squid Game,’ when director Hwang Dong-Hyuk spoke to the Associated Press about a possible second season.

He appears to have confirmed it, saying that Seong Gi Hun (Lee Jung Jae’s character in season 1) will return to the screen to “do something for the world.”

Netflix’s reality show threw the dice with a hint of anger, despair, and distinction, and the ‘Squid Game’ quickly became a global trend. Hwang Dong Hyuk’s brilliance kept inexperienced, first-time K-drama viewers on the edge of their seats, and brought in plenty of new fans who have since become K-world regulars.

Many viewers were left wanting more as the series ended on a cliffhanger, with a virtual petition spreading around the world to continue the drama for another season.

While the director had previously stated that there were no intentions to continue the series, he appears to have taken note of the global response and expectations, resulting in the second season of ‘Squid Game.’

This was Hwang Dong Hyuk’s complete response. “There has been a lot of pressure, a lot of demand, and a lot of love for a second season.”

So it’s almost as if you don’t give us an option! However, I can confirm that there will be a second season. I’m thinking about that right now. “Right now, I’m working on a plan.”
