One Piece Manga Breaks Guinness World Record

The One Piece manga has set a new Guinness World Record after inspiring the anime for an upcoming live-action Netflix series.

Eiichiro Oda’s mind-boggling manga has now crossed 500 million copies published worldwide. This achievement was unlocked during the 103rd volume’s release which was also coincidentally yesterday when the announcement was made.

However, it is not simply an accomplishment it has broken a record. One Piece has become a manga that has now broken the record for the most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author.

The manga revolves around the sea-sailing adventures of the superpowered Monkey D. Luffy. He attempts to be the pirate king and it has been going on for 24 years.

The series has always been popular among anime fans and this record-breaking achievement just proves to you the success of the manga.

Not so surprisingly, the record that One Piece has broken was set by One Piece itself. Previously, the manga set a Guinness World Record in June 2015.

That was because it had 320,866, 000 copies worldwide by December of 2014. As of July 2021, the manga has 490 million copies circulated worldwide. The number has only kept going higher every week.

There are 100 million copies being circulated in 60 countries and 416, 566, 000 of these copies have been in Japan. This number includes the distribution of both print and digital copies. The manga began serializing in 1997.
