On Impact/NJPW Multiverse United, Hiroshi Tanahashi formally replaces Will Ospreay

Multiverse United, the combined NJPW/Impact Wrestling event scheduled for WrestleMania weekend, has unofficially run into trouble.

NJPW has someone who is more than capable of filling his position.

Ospreay won't be able to compete at Multiverse United, according to reports that circulated yesterday, according to the promotion.

To fight Bailey in Ospreay's place, NJPW will now send veteran top star Hiroshi Tanahashi.

Everyone who has been paying attention will not be surprised by the news because Tanahashi himself offered yesterday to take Ospreay's position at Multiverse United.

The new fight between Tanahashi and Bailey will be the first singles match between the two participants, despite Ospreay and Bailey having wrestled each other a few times in the past.

The focus will now shift back to Ospreay and his health.

The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion was anticipated to play a significant role in plans for another collaborative production show, AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door, this summer, perhaps in a rematch with Kenny Omega.
