Jack Dorsey & Jay-Z Launch Bitcoin Academy in Brooklyn

Jack Dorsey, the creator of financial technology startup Block Inc., has announced a collaboration with musician Jay-Z to build a Bitcoin Academy in Brooklyn.

The Bitcoin Academy’s mission aims to empower and provide education to the region.

The project’s website further details that residents of Marcy House, located in Brooklyn, New York will be eligible for free courses and other benefits like internet data plans.

“Mr. [Shawn Carter] and I are funding The Bitcoin Academy, a program for residents of Marcy Houses in Brooklyn New York where Jay grew up,” Dorsey tweeted.

The Block founder further explained that the project was also bolstered by Crypto Blockchain Plug (Najah J. Roberts) and Black Bitcoin Billionaire (Lamar Wilson).

Marcy House, often known as Marcy Projects, is a public housing complex in Brooklyn, New York. When Jay-Z was a child, he resided on Marcy Avenue and went to Eli Whitney High School.

The Bitcoin Academy website notes that “education is power,” and classes will be online or in-person starting June 22 through September 7.

“Shout out to Jack,” Jay-Z tweeted on Thursday

“Bitcoin Academy, starting in Marcy, a place that taught me so much, is hopefully the first of many. The simple goal is to provide people tools to build independence for themselves and then the community around them.”
