Is Floyd Mayweather Fighting Manny Pacquiao in 2022? Here’s What Head of MP Promotions Said

Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao, popularly known as Manny Pacquiao, is a phenomenal boxer who once swept the boxing world.

He is the only boxer to have won world titles in eight different weight classes. The 43-year-old had announced his retirement in 2021. But there is a buzz around the town that he might return to fight his archrival.

Sean Gibbons, head of MP Promotions, told, “Let’s go. [I] would love to see it, but Mayweather wants none of this smoke due to his ego. Senator Pacquiao would love an exhibition, if he was to return it would be this year – but that is a big ‘if’.”

This news has left the fans in excitement. Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr are two of the greatest names in the world of boxing.

Both the boxers are almost the same age, with just 2 years age difference. Although the titans are retired now, a match between these two would certainly be a massive hit. Gibbons has hinted toward a 2022 fight. Let’s see if it happens any time soon.

Billed as the ‘Fight of the Century’, the fight between the two legends took place in May 2015 at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The arena was jam-packed to see the bout. Two fighters of this magnitude certainly meant that there was a lot of money on the line.

The Philippine boxer is not only a great fighter, but he also has been dabbling in politics for a long time. He first ran for congress and lost in 2007. Furthermore, he scored landslide victories in the 1st district of South Cotabato in 2010 and 2013. By 2016, the boxing sensation became a senator.

In October 2021, he announced his candidacy for the 2022 Philippine presidential election. Moreover, he focused on fighting corruption, cracking down on drugs, and working for the betterment of the impoverished. Unfortunately, he lost the election.

Currently, the air is filled with rematch news about Mayweather and Pacquiao.
