Holly Holm’s Legendary Response After Shoving Ronda Rousey At The UFC Weigh-Ins

UFC 193 was a pivotal moment in the history of women’s combat sports. Everything had been thrilling, from the weigh-ins to the match’s climax. It’s been eight years since Holly Holm’s stunning head-kick knockout of Ronda Rousey, which resulted in Rousey’s first loss in the sport.

During the UFC 193 weigh-ins, Holm and ‘Rowdy’ had a rival standoff. When Joe Rogan, the show’s host, asked Holm about the weigh-in tussle, she said savagely, “I don’t know, just having a drink!“.

The crowd laughed in reaction to the comment while Rogan continued asking,” This is a huge fight for you, one of the most important fights in the history of this division, so give us your thoughts on Ronda as a champion and what tomorrow night means to you?”

Holm replied, ” Well I, m here, I’m here to shock the world and I have respect for her in the world as she has done a hard job though, you know she is the best rank for everybody, but I’m a different fighter” ‘The preacher’s daughter’, justified her statement by winning UFC women’s Bantamweight title in UFC 193 via a lead leg roundhouse kick straight to ‘Rousey’s head.

A rematch was expected, which would have been a significant rematch in the UFC. However, Holm did not wait and chose to battle Miesha Tate, where she suffered a devastating loss through a rear-naked choke in the last round, damaging her undefeated career.

‘The preacher’s daughter’ had encountered a bumpy path in the UFC. She went through three consecutive losses after fighting ‘Rowdy’ and additional defeats followed. Due to a knee injury, she was forced to withdraw from a match against Aspen Ladd.

Being inactive for a long time, rumors regarding her retirement circulated. She recently smashed the rumors about her retirement, adding “I’m like no! Not retired”. UFC officially confirmed,’ The preacher’s daughter’s comeback at May 21  UFC’s main event against KetlenVieira.

Holm’s is to face the #5 ranking Brazilian fighter, Ketlen Vieira. Vieira holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jutsu and Judo, which contributes to her strong ground game. ‘Fenomeno’ is a potential threat to Holm’s rise in the UFC. Viera’s win over Holm will get her a chance to fight top contenders in the division.
