The saga with Donovan Mitchell's status in Utah is going to drag on over the summer, as teams look to pounce on the disgruntled All-Star.

With head coach Quin Snyder on his way out, the Jazz may be staring down the barrel of a rebuild, with their two stars Mitchell and Rudy Gobert no longer seeing eye-to-eye.

One of the most talked-about trade destinations for Mitchell has been the New York Knicks, who have been stockpiling trade assets to make a splash like this to push them into championship contention once again.

Knicks fan Stephen A. Smith has warned Mitchell from associating with the Knicks franchise.

"The reality of the situation is that the New York Knicks are an organization not even worthy of Donovan Mitchell. I am a native New Yorker, I am a die-hard New York Knicks fan."

"I root for them, but they make me sick to my stomach. I am emotionally connected to this franchise that frustrates me and ticks me off year after year after year."

"They don't deserve Donovan Mitchell. I hope they get him, I would be ecstatic if they get him. But I am under no illusions, I know there is a slim to zero chance they get him."

Mitchell is a native New Yorker and will be looking at the Knicks as a favorable destination.

The new front office led by Leon Rose and William Wesley has done a solid job of building this roster with RJ Barrett and Julius Randle as its key pieces.

Even if the Knicks have to part with Randle, getting someone like Mitchell will make the Knicks a much bigger threat in the East alongside Barrett
