Dakota Johnson’s Persuasion Trailer Out: Jane Austen Fans Disappointed
Netflix returns with another "Bridgerton" web series like-film but this time with a new approach to the timeless love story.
The trailer was released today by Netflix, giving us the first look at the movie and its story. The film is an adaptation of a Jane Austen novel, Persuasion is also the last novel of the author which was published after her death.
The movie stars Dakota Johnson , Cosmo Jarvis , Henry Golding , Richard E Grant, Mia McKenna Bruce and Nikki Amuka Bird
The trailer starts with Dakota Johnson narrating her life story. In the first scene of the trailer, we get to see Anne Elliot (Dakota Johnson) being embraced by the love of her life Frederick Wentworth (Cosmo Jarvis) a naval officer.
But because her family persuaded her to leave him, she broke up. She is not really happy about leaving him, as she says "I would have been a far happier woman in keeping him." It's like she is not able to move on even after 8 years.
Later on, we see Fredrick Wentworth returns to her life, he has now become a Captain. For Anne it's like the past that she left behind comes back and when they look at each other there is a little awkwardness between them.
The trailer ends with a beautiful saying, " Don't let anyone tell you how to live or who to love." She also breaks the fourth wall while saying the second part of the saying. The film will be streaming on Netflix on 15th July.
After the trailer was released, Jane Austen fans did not like the cheeky adaptation of Anne and they tweeted about it. They were also upset about the the famous quote, the character adaptation, and the breaking of the fourth wall .
