Canelo Alvarez could break his long-standing promise to take on this monster

Undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez has made it official that he will defend his belt against British challenger John Riyder.

The match is significant for both Mexicans and Canelo since it will mark the 32-year-old boxing legend's first fight in his native nation in eleven years.

The four-weight division champion has scheduled a Cinco de Mayo weekend engagement.

Which will result in Akron Stadium in Guadalajara screaming his name on Saturday, May 6, for his 35th appearance in his nation.

He prevailed in the contest via decision, but sadly, it resulted in a serious hand injury.

Although he will be fighting the British on March 25.

The obligatory challenger for Alvarez in the rematch will be chosen on this day by the two previous super middleweight champions Caleb Plant and David Benavidez.

Alvarez wants to test himself against an easy opponent before taking on any major challenges.
