Australian Columnist’s Response To Rebel Wilson’s Outing Controversy

This all started when Rebel Wilson posted a picture on Instagram with her girlfriend on Thursday which was followed by the caption, ” I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince.. but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess 📷📷📷 #loveislove.”

That’s when it got confirmed that Rebel Wilson and Ramona Arguma are in a relationship. Later on, an Australian journalist from Herald published a piece that gave Wilson two days to speak about her relationship before announcing it to the world because they wanted to do a story about it.

A  column by journalist Andrew Hornerary said that they wanted to do a story on Wilson’s relationship

After Wilson addressed the issue the paper denied the accusations made by the Pitch Perfect star. They said that it was a “Big mistake” to have contacted Rebel Wilson and that she has “gazumped” her relationship story.

The newspaper Herald added they just simply asked her to comment on her relationship. With all this situation taking place the pitch-perfect actress’s supporters weren’t really happy about how the newspaper forced her to speak about her own relationship

On Sunday Herald’s editor, Bevan Shields shared a note about the matter that said, ” Our weekly Private Sydney celebrity column last week asked Wilson if she wished to comment about her new partner. We would have asked the same questions had Wilson’s new partner been a man.”

They further wrote about how it was wrong to out the newspaper, they said,” Like other mastheads do every day we simply asked questions and as standard practice included a deadline for a response. I had made no decision about whether or what to publish and Herald’s decision about what to do would have been informed by any response Wilson supplied.”

The note was concluded by saying that the piece previously published was just to give insights into the interactions between Rebel Wilson & her PR team.
