Andrew Garfield Is Interested In Returning As Spider-Man In Future Movies
After Spider-Man: No Way Home, Andrew Garfield says he’d be open to returning as Spider-Man in future films.
Garfield took over Tobey Maguire’s web-slinging mantel in Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012, following Sam Raimi’s canceled Spider-Man 4. Fans and critics alike were mostly pleased with the film.
However, due to the disappointing response to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), Sony/Marvel Studios agreed to relaunch the character in the MCU with Tom Holland, ending Garfield’s tenure.
Despite Garfield’s objections, Marvel Studios and Sony’s No Way Home reprises his and Maguire’s roles as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. No Way Home is a sequel to 2019’s Far From Home, in which Tom Holland’s Peter seeks Doctor Strange’s help in remembering his Spider-Man.
he following magic goes awry, causing a slew of prior Sony characters to appear from the multiverse, including villains like Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and Jamie Foxx’s Electro.
Thankfully, Maguire and Garfield appear to assist Holland in combating their respective adversaries and to teach him a lesson or two about “great power” and “great responsibility.”
While the sight of both senior Spideys has sparked interest among fans, it appears that Garfield steals the show. The internet now wants to see Garfield reprise his role as Spider-Man in further films.
Garfield has spoken up about his experience working on No Way Home for the first time since its release.
In an interview with Variety, the actor discussed what drew him back to Spider-Man and what it meant to him to be able to bring his character back to life both narratively and commercially. When asked if he’d be open to revisiting the character, Garfield stated he’d be willing to do so if the opportunities arose themselves.
