Excellent comeback from DC after being reduced to 80-4 in the 11th over. None of their batters got to a fifty in the UAE phase before this game and today they have two. That too from two of their top players. Shaw got it with a touch of elegance, and Pant with a bit of muscle.

Both had their share of luck though as CSK bowlers tested the duo with all sorts of variations in line and length. Hazlewood picked up both Dhawan and Iyer inside the powerplay and though Prithvi Shaw missed out on a big score, the 83-run partnership of Hetmyer and Pant allowed Delhi to post a competitive total on the board.

The ball is coming on nicely and the slower ones are proving to be tricky if bowled in the right channels. Delhi have a variety of bowling options and one would believe that any total over 170 in a pressure game would appear as 200. Expect lots of drama during the chase.

Hazlewood: “Par score for that wicket. Seems to slow down but towards the end seemed to be getting better. We could have used the big boundary a bit better. All in all probably par. Just about reading the play and putting in the practice efforts here in the middle.

It’s about implementing at the right time and executing. The Test match length can work at certain times. The batter is going to probably use his feet. It was pretty sweaty. I think a bit of dew is starting to come down. The ball seems to be coming on nicely. Hopefully it suits us.

Ravindra Jadeja | CSK: “It wasn’t a surprise for us (Deepak Chahar’s proposal after the last league game) because after the match he told us that he had already planned for this. If you look at our batting order, there weren’t too many changes in the 5-7 and if we do make changes in the top-order the communication will be done much earlier so that he’s prepared for that role.

Generally we don’t change much because we have a lot of experienced players and everyone knows their role in the team, but if the situation demands then MS will make us aware about the changes. The team that backs their strength and doesn’t panic have a better chance, both teams will feel the pressure.

We keep our basics simple and hopefully execute our plans in the middle.“
