It was a Rajasthan Royals (RR) match as they started IPL 2022 earlier by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 61 runs at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Tuesday (March 29). The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have kicked off their IPL 2022 season in a superb fashion with a 61-run win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Tuesday. Chasing a massive target of 211, SRH were rocked early by RR’s pace battery and couldn’t really recover after that point.
Rajasthan Royals dominate
No team in IPL 2022 has beaten the ropes so quickly and surprisingly as it makes the Royals look like it is still their first game. Their strikers played their part in the right way and a combination of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal worked, as did Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna. With Jos Buttler and Yashavi Jaiswal providing the top spot, the Royals still have two players who can hit deep. They have two solid batters on top, Padikkal and Samson at No.3 and 4 if their openers fail.
Fans on Twitter hailed this new-look Royals team for showing absolute ruthlessness. Some believe that after such a professional performance, the Royals are probably the team to beat this season. The Royals will be delighted with the almost complete start and the balance their team displayed.
Devdutt Padikkal opened the innings with Virat Kohli for two seasons during his time with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), but that doesn’t mean he has a problem getting used to hitting No.4 for the Royals. The Karnataka batsman was aggressive as he hit a 29-ball-41 full of six six and six six and put together a 73-run partnership that played a key role in helping the team collect 210/6, the highest number in -IPL away.
Kane Williamson planted six bowlers against Rajasthan and three of them gave 40+ runs in their four overs. Umran Malik and T Natarajan stuffed a few sticks, but not before they were taken to all parts of the ground. Washington Sundar, in particular, was one of the bowlers who had a forgettable start to the IPL 2022, giving 47 runs in three overs. Their beating, released by Aiden Markram who hit fifty undefeated, looked unaware of the RR throws.
Hyderabad’s struggle continues, as they finished with a wooden spoon last season. Their bowling was split by Rajasthan’s new team and the batters struggled against Trent Boult’s speed and swing. Aiden Markram gave Hyderabad hope for a solid century and it was their bright spot alone, but there was more to do.
