Bappi Lahiri’s son Bappa who was in Los Angeles studying and pursuing music returned to Mumbai to look after his father. Sadly Bappa is unable to meet live in the hospital room with Bappida, given the status of Covid.
Alokesh “Bappi” Lahiri is an Indian singer, composer, politician, disco musician and record producer. He popularized the use of synthesized disco music in Indian cinema and sang some of his own compositions. He has composed some songs for Prosenjit Chatterjee.
Stable But In ICU
Speaking to news portals, Bappa said, “My father is stable now. But he is in the ICU. He was found with a mild Covid 19 test Wednesday. But the reason for the concern is that he already have a lung condition. He is in Breach Candy Hospital. We can’t meet him. He is under the watchful eye of Dr Udwadia. We are glad that my father has been receiving the best possible care. ”
Trying not to worry too much, Bappa says, “It’s difficult because Dad is the alone and only one there. We are not allowed to meet him. He has never been alone. Our mother or one of either my sister Reema or me, has always been with her. ”
It Is Very Frightening
Bappida had gone on record about their family once and said, “I am fortunate to have a wife and children who are so close to me. I never need to worry about anything. They take care of everything.”
About the Covid situation Bappida had said. “It is very frightening. I advise everyone to remain indoors as much as possible. Luckily for me, my music doesn’t need travel. Not these days. I can compose and sing from home.”
Famous for his uptempo and danceable tracks. Bappi would recreate and sometimes even sample popular sounds from the foreign market on his soundtracks. Though he was known for disco-style songs, he has composed some melodious songs as well, such as the songs from Chalte Chalte and Zakhmee.
