Michael Kopech Files for Divorce from Vanessa Morgan 3 Days After Pregnancy Reveal
Fans and viewers found it quite odd that when, Vanessa Morgan announced her pregnancy and subsequent Gender Reveal three days ago, her husband, Michael Kopech wasn’t seen or mentioned anywhere. Turns out, less than a month after the newlyweds discovered that Vanessa was pregnant, Kopech has filed for divorce!
The Chicago White Sox pitcher and Riverdale Actress, who is currently pregnant with their first child, are parting ways after six months of marriage.
The Divorce Filing
According to Reports, Michael filed the paperwork on June 19 in Morris County, Texas, which is not far from where he grew up, in the town of Mount Pleasant. The filing, which appeared online, has cited that the couple had “no children,” together. A representative for Morgan confirmed that Kopech is the father of Morgan’s unborn baby, but declined to comment on the divorce filing. A hearing Date has not been listed so far.
Speculations Amid the Announcement and Gender Reveal
News of the couple’s divorce comes just days after the 28 year old actress announced she was expecting her first child, a baby boy, on social media. On Friday, the actress shared photos and videos from a gender reveal party of close friends and family. In her Instagram post, she shared photos from the morning she took her positive pregnancy tests on May 20, 2020. She also included videos of her smiling and full of joy at the party, where she was surrounded by pals as she popped a balloon with blue dust and hearts in it.
Fans began speculating the couple’s relationship when Michael was conspicuously absent from all of the photos and videos. Moreover, there was no mention of Kopech in Morgan’s pregnancy announcement as well as from her IG post caption, where she didn’t tag him. Michael on the other hand, has yet to comment on the pregnancy.
In the emotional post shared with her Instagram followers on Friday, Vanessa revealed that she would be ‘welcoming [her] baby boy into the world this January.’ Besides her message, Morgan also included photos from her gender reveal party. Snapshots of positive pregnancy tests, her very first ultrasound and cheeky baby themed treats.
Vanessa’s Emotional Message
Vanessa has since edited her caption a little differently, but the essence of the message remains the same. “Exciting news… I am overjoyed to be welcoming my baby boy into the world this January.” Vanessa began, using “my” instead of “our” when discussing her child with Michael.
“This little guy has already brought me so much happiness and a feeling of such a greater purpose. I cannot wait to meet you!!” she continued. “Lil one you were made with so much love & already exude a light so strong it warms my belly. Thank you God for this blessing. I’m just so happy & can’t wait to dedicate everyday to being the best mommy I can be,” she added.
To conclude her emotional post, Morgan included a quote from the beloved children’s book, Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. “I’ll love you forever I’ll like you for always as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.????’ If you know you know #preggers ???????? ???????? #quarantine???? ????????.”
“I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him”
Michael’s divorce filing comes just five months after the couple’s intimate winter wedding at the Historic Walton House in Homestead, Florida. Their first date in 2018 was on an architectural tour of Chicago. Which was also the first time they met in person after flirting back and forth on Instagram. “If it wasn’t for social media, we would have never known each other,” Morgan joked.
The Pro Baseball pitcher ended up proposing in July of 2019, during a trip to Havasu Falls, Arizona. The wedding, which was a private affair, saw Madelaine Petsch, who plays her on screen girlfriend on Riverdale, as one of the bridesmaids at the ceremony. Co-stars, Skeet Ulrich and Drew Ray Tanner were also in attendance.
The Actress spoke about her special day in an interview at the time. “Today, I vowed to love my best friend for a lifetime. It was a day spent with those we love in a room filled with endless love. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.”
The actress has since posted many tributes to her husband, which includes her last post featuring Michael, on April 30, 2020. She wished him a happy 24th birthday, calling him her “quarantine boo.”
Reality TV fans probably know Michael from his relationship with Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kim Zolciak’s daughter, Brielle Biermann. They had a bitter split in March 2018 after two years of dating.
Morgan and Kopech began dating months after, with the actress sharing one of the first photos of her and the athlete in July 2018. They made their first red carpet appearance as a couple in Sept. 2018.
