Lil Nas X has taken the internet by storm again as he announced that he is pregnant with his upcoming album. The singer took to his social media handle to announce that his anticipated album, Montero will release on September 17.
He wrote, “SURPRISE! I can’t believe i’m finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy “MONTERO” is due September 17, 2021”. The rapper decided to make the announcement with a high fashion maternity photoshoot. He was sitting by a pool as he cradled his fake baby bump.
The rapper was wearing a white kimono with a floral crown. He followed up his tweet as he shared an image of an edited ultrasound scan. The scan included the cover of his new album. He also decided to share a video clip revealing his prosthetic baby bump.
In his recent interview with People, Lil Nas X revealed his idea is inspired by Megan Thee Stallion’s verse. The rapper shared that he was amazed and called up his stylist as she agreed and said his album is actually his baby. She joked about how he should do a pregnancy shoot and he thought the idea was brilliant.
Lil Nas said, “I was like, ‘You know what? That’s actually brilliant.’ So now we have this entire thing coming out, and it’s going to be amazing.” This left Twitter buzzing as a majority of the users were left confused by the promotional concept. However, it also caused outrage as some called out the singer for using fake pregnancy to promote his album.
Twitter Is Outraged & Confused
The rapper’s fans came to his defence and appreciated his creativity. He also used his usual humour to respond to the hate comments. The singer also decided to log off his social media and claimed this negative energy is harmful to “the baby”. This is not a new thing for the rapper as he is often dubbed as the “viral king”. It’s because he always finds himself on the Twitter trending page.
Lil Nas recently left fans stunned after he made a spoof of the Nike lawsuit against his customized shoes. Many fans expressed their disappointment with the rapper’s choice of promotion with the pregnancy.
