Athletes in the NBA today are making way more money than they used to. In the early days, an athlete’s yearly salary used to be a 4-year contract for great players. It can be said that they deserved it but highest paid does not always mean that they are the best player in the league with certain exceptions.

10. Damian Lillard – $39,344,900

Damian Lillard has signed a 4-year max extension with the Blazers prior to the start of the season. Lillard struggled this season due to new rule changes averaging only 24 ppg, 4.1 rpg and 7.3 apg. Now he is sideline due to injury and is most likely bound to miss the rest of the season.

9. Giannis Antetokounmpo – $39,344,900

Giannis is currently playing his best basketball with the Bucks averaging 29.7 ppg, 11.5 rpg and 6 apg. His championship run last year has landed him an extension. The next season he is going to sign the supermax contract with the Bucks which will see him receiving 50 million a year.

Leonard has been out for the entire season, since injuring himself in the Playoffs the previous year. He has been earning quite a lot of money but if he doesn’t deliver a championship to the Clippers then he has the probability of being blasted by the media.

George is in the same boat as Leonard as he has been sidelined due to an elbow injury mid-season. Prior to that he was averaging a modest 24.7 ppg, 7.1 rpg and 5.5 apg. If George does not deliver a championship like Leonard, he may suffer the same consequences.

James has been playing his mind out this season with averages of 29.3 ppg, 8.2 rpg and 6.3 apg. He has been the only bright spot for the lackluster Lakers this season. He is going to remain with the City of Angels for the next 2 years.

5. Kevin Durant – $42,018,900

Kevin Durant deserves the money he is earning as he is aiming for a championship and he aims to deliver that to the franchise. This season he is averaging 29 ppg, 7.4 rpg and 5.8 apg. He signed a max extension with the Nets which means he will stay with the franchise till 2025.

4. Russell Westbrook – $44,211,146

Westbrook has been playing his worst basketball and coming to Los Angeles Lakers is exposing his weaknesses on the court. He is averaging 18.1 ppg, 7.6 rpg and 7.2 apg. He better step up else his trade will be considered one of the worst all-time

3. James Harden – $44,310,840

Harden recently got traded to the 76ers for Ben Simmons landing him the contract that he had been earning back with Nets. It will be interesting to see how far the duo of Embiid and Harden go.

Wall has the worst contract in the NBA as he has not played a single game for the Rockets this season. It feels like he has disappeared from the NBA landscape itself and his bad relationship with the coaching staff indicates that he wants out.

Curry is the top earner in the NBA at the moment. He is very deserving of the contract putting up averages of 25.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg and 6.4 apg with his team having the 3rd best record in the western conference.

These players are the top 10 earners on the NBA at the moment a few changes will be seen in the next season. Hopefully there are other players who are paid well and they provide their team with what they need
