TikTok has been the root cause of many viral trends in the past years and this seems to have finally paid off for the platform. The viral video-sharing platform has dethroned dominant search-engine [Google] from the top spot to become the most visited website in the world in 2021.
TikTok is also the leading social media platform which has the most amount of visitors relative to Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Reddit.
Google Vs TikTok
According to the latest report by CloudFare, Google sits at the 2nd spot for the most visited website while TikTok has overtaken it to be at the top spot.
“There were some days when Google was #1, but October and November were mostly TikTok’s days, including on Thanksgiving (November 25) and Black Friday (November 26),” the blog post claims.
TikTok snatched the 1st place on February 17, 2021 for the first time but the battle was not won here since Google reclaimed the top spot in the days to come. The Google Vs TikTok most-searched website battle continued until August 10, the day when TikTok carved a clear lead over its search-engine competitor Google.
TikTok Hits Massive Milestone
This milestone proves that the Byte-Dance owned TikTok has become a part of the daily lives of the world population, just like Google.
In 2021, we saw a slew of viral trends, dances, memes, and recipes originate from TikTok that easily went viral and the whole world was dancing on the same beats.
In 2022, it remains to be seen whether TikTok will remain the leading and most popular website of the world or it will giveaway the top spot to its search-engine competitor Google.
