‘This is the end,’ says GOTG director James Gunn

James Gunn, the director of Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy franchise, delivered the most painful news of all in a recent interview with Deadline.

During the interview, he revealed that the film’s upcoming third installment will be the final one, saying, “This is the end for us, the last time audiences will see this squad of Guardians.”

Gunn is presently filming the third installment of the franchise in Atlanta, Georgia, with a worldwide release date of May 5, 2023. The filmmaker also revealed some information from the film’s set, saying, “It’s rather large. It’s extremely large and dark, and it’s not at all what one could imagine.” “I simply want to be faithful to the characters, the story, and give the people the wrap-up that they deserve for the story,” he continued.

“That’s always a little bit scary; I’m doing my best,” Gunn said. He went on to say, “I’m aware that the third feature in most trilogies suffers; not always.”

The past two films in the franchise, featuring Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, and Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, have received a lot of praise. Since the cast was last seen in the other Marvel franchise, Avengers: End Game, in 2019, fans have been waiting for a new instalment of the films.
