Coughlan has now provided an update on the planned new episodes in an interview with Radio Times. The actress indicated that Bridgerton’s season 2 conclusion will be emotional while discussing her film schedule.

The actress stated she was “on her way to set right now” and was “shooting all this like, big, heavy, dramatic stuff for the finale.” While Coughlan did not reveal any additional information, it’s evident that the showrunners have big plans for season 2’s storyline.

Fans were shocked to learn that Coughlan’s Penelope Featherington was Bridgerton’s mysterious Lady Whistledown at the end of season 1, and based on her comments, it appears that the drama will continue. Because the actress has indicated that her filming schedule ends in October, the series is likely to be nearly finished, making a 2022 release more likely.

Season 1 of Bridgerton focused on Phoebe Dynevor Daphne Bridgerton’s romantic adventures with Regé-Jean Page’s Duke of Hastings. However, as the story continues through Julia Quinn’s original novels, season 2 will focus on Daphne’s brother, Anthony Bridgerton, and his new love interest, Kate Sharma. And if Coughlan’s promise of a “heavy” and “dramatic” conclusion is any indication, fans can expect plenty more mystery, drama, and romance between these new characters in the following episodes.
