The family-dream match between Roman Reigns, the undisputed WWE Universal Champion, and Dwayne Johnson will not take place at this year’s WrestleMania. According to WWE’s Paul Heyman, the match that has never taken place but keeps being mentioned every year during WrestleMania season hasn’t gained much traction.
Despite the persistent claims, he said in an interview that he never spoke to Johnson about the match. Heyman identified Johnson’s hectic schedule as a challenge, saying it would be challenging for him to find the time to get back into fighting shape with the XFL’s premiere, his promotional schedule, and other ventures.
The in-ring cardio required to perform and bring in in-ring shape is “two very different things,” according to the Special Counsel to Reigns, even though Johnson might be able to run a marathon right now. Heyman expressed sympathy, saying he doesn’t see how Johnson “would’ve had the time with these ventures at this particular period on his plate.”
As, it demands a certain degree of training that is unique to the sports entertainment industry. Heyman estimates that Johnson would require six to ten weeks of training before being “okay for the rest of the summer” because of the muscle memory he has accumulated over the course of his Hall-of-Fame-caliber career.
