The Grammy Awards for 2022 will be held on April 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, according to the Recording Academy. Since 1973, when it was held in Nashville, the telecast will be held somewhere other than Los Angeles or New York for the first time. It will also be the first time the event is held in a city without a Recording Academy chapter.
For the first time since the seventh annual Grammy Awards were held on April 13, 1965, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, according to Billboard, the Grammys will be held towards the end of the calendar year. Because of the fast-spreading omicron variant, which was also caused by the post-holiday COVID-19 outbreak in Los Angeles, the Grammy telecast was postponed by three weeks this year. The Grammy Awards have been moved from January 31 to March 14 in 2021. The Grammy Awards, which were scheduled to show on January 31, 2022, have also been pushed back from their original date of January 31.
Meanwhile, Trevor Noah, the host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, will take over as host of the Grammy Awards, which have been rescheduled. The performance will be produced by Fulwell 73 Productions for the Recording Academy. Raj Kapoor serves as showrunner and executive producer, with executive producers Ben Winston and Jesse Collins and co-executive producer Jeannae Rouzan-Clay, according to Billboard. Hamish Hamilton returns as director, and Eric Cook joins Tabitha D’umo, Patrick Menton, Fatima Robinson, and David Wild as supervising producers.
If the Academy Awards air as scheduled on March 27, it will be the first time the Oscars have aired before the Grammy Awards since 1965. The Oscars were held on April 5, eight days before the Grammy Awards, that year.
