The first look at Doctor Who Season 13 features a Game of Thrones actor in a new role

Jacob Anderson’s first glimpse in the upcoming Doctor Who season 13 has just been revealed. Doctor Who holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-running science fiction television series, having aired from 1963 to 1989 and then returning in 2005 after a break.

The British series is renowned for its ever-expanding cast of lead actors who have played the titular figure, which is made possible by the character’s capacity to regenerated into a new person when facing death. Jodie Whitaker, who took over from Peter Capaldi in 2017, is the current incarnation of The Doctor. She is the first woman to play the popular Time Lord.

The Doctor, a humanoid creature who travels the universe in a time-traveling spacecraft with their companion to battle the universe’s villains and help those in need, is the main of the popular BBC series.

Because of the show’s whimsical time-bending nature, it has always been an episodic series, with The Doctor and their human companion encountering, combating, and solving a problem inside a single episode. Due to the pandemic shutdowns, the series was only able to achieve something new in season 13 by narrating a single overarching plot that spanned the entire season.

Anderson’s first screen appearance since the end of Game of Thrones in 2019 will be in this Doctor Who series. Anderson is due to co-star in Alice Lowe’s newest rom-com Timestalker, which is presently in pre-production, so it won’t be the last. Although the finale of Game of Thrones divided fans, it’s comforting to know that Anderson was capable of jumping aboard another popular series so quickly. Season 13 of Doctor Who will broadcast in late 2021.
