The Bucks Dominate The Bulls As They Storm Into The 2nd Round

The 1st round is almost reaching its end with teams having a lead in the series and are looking to end it as soon as possible. The Milwaukee Bucks are one such team, already leading 3-1 in the series against the Chicago Bulls. Having homecourt advantage, the Bucks want to decide the series then and there. The Bulls aim to win a game to keep their title hopes alive.

The Milwaukee bucks have gone with their starting lineup of Jrue Holiday, Wesley Matthews, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bobby Portis and Brook Lopez. Both Zach Lavine and Alex Caruso were out for the game, so the Chicago Bulls started with Ayo Dosunmu, DeMar DeRozan, Javonte Green, Patrick Williams and Nikola Vucevic.

Game Summary

With the opening tip itself, the Bucks started the game with a dunk from Giannis. The Bulls responded with their attacks but then the Bucks went on a 12-0 run. The streak was snapped but it was an omen of bad things to come. The Bulls defense wore thin with not having Caruso and Lavine around.

Giannis went on an absolute rampage. The Bulls defense had no response for Giannis’ attacks and the absence of their second best scorer has weakened their offense. Patrick Williams went on the attack but they needed DeRozan to step up as well. With no Lavine, the Bucks defense solely focused on DeRozan not letting him do whatever he wants.

The attacks prolonged into the 2nd quarter. Even after Giannis had to sit on the bench, there were other Buck players who was attacking. The Bulls were somehow hanging on to the relentless attacks but to no avail. The Bucks took the lead in the 1st half with a score of 60-42.

With such a wide score gap, entering into the 3rd quarter, the Bulls knew they had to get into gear. Nikola Vucevic stepped up to the plate but he alone isn’t enough. The Bucks defense on DeRozan has restricted him to the extent where he wasn’t even getting the ball in his hand as much.

Giannis on the other hand, having no stop gaps went on attacking frustrating the defense. And when the entire defense collapses on Giannis, the role players who are outside the perimeter gets an open look from 3.

The 4th quarter was a mimic of the 3rd quarter. With time winding down, the Bulls players seemed to give up as the lead was too big for them to close. The Bucks did not show any mercy and they finished the game with a win.

Box Score

Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks in scoring with 33 points, 9 rebound and 3 assists. Pat Connaughton came off the bench to give 20 points on 66% shooting from beyond the arc. Bobby Portis finished with a double-double of 14 points and 17 rebounds. Grayson Allen gave 13 points and 5 rebounds.

Patrick Williams led the Bulls in scoring with 23 points. Nikola Vucevic pulled off a double-double of 19 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks. Coby White had a decent game of 17 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal. DeRozan disappeared in the game with only 11 points, 7 assists and 3 steals.

Bucks move on to the next round

The Milwaukee Bucks move on to the next round, winning the game with a scoreline of 116-100. It was an utter domination by the Bucks for the entirety of the series apart from Game 2. The Chicago Bulls had a promising regular season making into the playoffs after 5 years. If they would have been healthy then the outcome of the series might have been different. Hopefully they bounce back the next playoffs and take their revenge.
