Asit Modi, the producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, said that they are “still waiting” for Disha Vakani to return as Dayaben, but that if she decides to leave the show, they will cast a new actor.
Asit Modi, the producer of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has spoken about Ghanashyam Nayak’s absence from recent episodes as Natwarlal Prabhashankar Undhaiwala aka Natu kaka. He has also revealed Popatlal’s (Shyam Pathak) marriage track as well as Disha Vakani’s return as Dayaben.
“Natu kaka is a senior citizen who has recovered from his illness,” Asit told a leading newspaper, “but due to the pandemic, I believe he should stay at home and follow safety protocols.” We’ll get him back on the show as soon as the situation improves. Popatlal’s marriage is also important, but it will have to wait in the current situation.” In September of last year, Ghanashyam had neck surgery.
Dayaben’s Return
“I feel I should become Dayaben now!” Asit said, referring to the possibility of Disha’s return. Her return has been a point of conflict for several years. We’re still waiting for her to return, and if she decides to leave, the show will continue with a new Daya. But, right now, I don’t think Daya’s return or Popatlal’s wedding are particularly important. There are more serious problems in the pandemic, and I believe all of those issues can wait.”
Fans Request
Since 2017, Disha has been on an indefinite maternity leave. Malav Rajda, the director of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, recently received a fan request to cast a new actor as Dayaben on one of his Instagram posts.
