Suga of BTS is embarking on his first-ever solo tour, he revealed today via posts on BTS’ social media handles.
Suga formally unveiled his intentions for his next solo tour under the moniker Agust D on February 15 at midnight KST.
Suga’s world tour will begin in the United States, where he will play in Belmont Park on April 26 and 27 as well as Newark, Rosemont, Los Angeles, and Oakland on May 3, 5, and 16.
After that, he will play three nights in Jakarta (from May 26 to May 28), two nights in Bangkok (on June 10 and 11), two nights in Singapore (on June 17 and 18), and two nights in Seoul’s Jamsil Indoor Stadium (on June 24 and 25).
Suga will provide further details regarding his tour’s destinations in Japan at a later time.
Rapper Suga from BTS dropped his solo mixtape, titled Agust D, in 2016. In addition, he acquired the stage moniker “Agust D” to use while not releasing music with BTS.
However, Suga really has two stage identities because his true name is Min Yoongi. Some fans may ask why Suga performs as “Agust D” solo because it is not very typical for musicians to have two stage names and what the distinction between his two personalities would be.
In an interview with Time Magazine, Suga revealed he chose Agust D because it’s a different alter ego than Suga. He explained that Agust D represents a “raw side” that he has not been able to showcase as Suga.
Speaking to Grazia Korea in 2016, Suga shared he often wrote his name as “DT Suga” in his lyrics, and “Agust D” is simply “DT Suga” written backwards. “DT” also stands for “Daegu Town,” which is where Suga is from.
Suga was recently announced as a brand ambassador for Valentino. Even though he has released solo music, he is yet to release his first official studio album as a solo artist, which he is expected to release this year.
