Star Wars’ Spin-off Show Reportedly Casts End Of The F—ing World’s Actor

Disney+’s Star Wars spin-off is set to cast Alex Lawther who is the star of Netflix’s hit series, The End of the F—ing World. The upcoming show, Star Wars: Andor will be exclusively released on Disney+. This show will revolve around Cassian Andor’s early years working for the Rebellion.

The role will be portrayed by Diego Luna; and will be based on the events prior to Rogue One” A Star Wars Story. However, there is not much information about the show; as the news was released in a brief sizzle reel released by Disney at the end of last year. It described Andor as a spy thriller.

Alex had made his feature film debut as he played a younger version of Alan Turing in the 2014 biopic, The Imitation Game. Ever since then, he has shaped himself to take up several high-profile roles. This includes his lead role in Netflix’s dark comedy series, The End of the F—ing World. And now it has helped him enter the Star Wars galaxy.

The actor is reportedly set to star in Star Wars: Andor in a supporting role. But the exact details of this has not been revealed yet. The Direct reported the news and stated that Disney and Lucasfilm are yet to confirm Alex’s rumoured role.

Andor will be the third Disney+ series which will be expected to take place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. As for the other two series, it is currently an animated show; Star Wars: The Bad Batch and the highly anticipated, Obi-Wan Kenobi. This is a strategy by Lucasfilm to enable them to explore the eras in the broader chronology of Star Wars outside of the movies.

This time has proved to be the best to explore that aspect as important developments occurred between the two films. The events refer to the extinction of the Jedi and the formation of the Rebel Alliance. Lucasfilm seems to be focusing their attention towards streaming for the rest of Star Wars storytelling.

Alex achieved his success with The End of the F—ing World and Black Mirror. After the success of the Mandalorian, the bar is definitely set high for Star Wars: Andor.
