Contrary to the reports, Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi & Ranveer Singh’s 83 will be releasing in the theatres on Diwali and Christmas this year!
Amid the lockdown, many filmmakers have decided to release their films on digital platforms. But there has been an announcement about a few theatrical releases. Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi and Ranveer Singh’s 83 are all set to release in the theatres on Diwali and Christmas respectively.
PVR Pictures has announced the new release dates of the films. Their handle tweeted, “Exciting times ahead.. Gearing up to release Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi on Diwali and Kabir Khan’s 83 on Christmas this 2020!”
Earlier, there were speculations about both these films directly releasing on OTT platforms. However, the Group CEO of Reliance Entertainment, Mr Shibasish Sarkar had confirmed that the film will release in theatres only.
Director Kabir Khan too had confirmed the release of 83 in theatres as he had said that the film is made for a big screen experience. And they are ready to wait for the things to get back to normal.
Meanwhile, a number of films have headed for a release on OTT platforms. They include Laxmmi Bomb, Bhuj: The Pride of India, Sadak 2, Dil Bechara and The Big Bull.
Talking about the films, Sooryavanshi is a cop drama starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. The film has been directed by Rohit Shetty with special appearances from Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh.
On the other hand, 83 is the biopic based on the cricketer Kapil Dev and India’s world cup victory in 1983. The film has Ranveer Singh in the lead role with Deepika Padukone playing her wife Romi Bhatia.
