SNL Personality Pete Davidson Might Be Done With The Show After Seven Long Years

Pete Davidson’s time on ‘SNL’ may be close to over. In a new round of conversations, he revealed that he was ready to ‘hang the jersey.’

Seven years on Saturday night, it would be time for Pete Davidson to move on.

What Did Pete Say?

The comedian opened up about his future on the show during an interview with comedians with The Hollywood Reporter.

During the interview, Pete came up with a colleague, Chris Redd, who started a conversation about his future in the show. Chris revealed that he had no plans to stay in the SNL for as long just as Kenan Thompson, who has been at SNL since 2003.

Pete agreed. “Yes, I’m fine,” he admitted. “I am amazed to have reached seven. I’m ready to hang the jersey. Kenan is like f***ing Karl Malone out there.”

SNL Career

And, even though he’s starting to think about leaving, Pete has fond memories of his time at SNL – especially this past season, which took place during the coronavirus.

Pete started at SNL in 2014, and has been a staple in the show ever since.

“I’m not exactly proud of how I handled or was handling things a few years ago,” Pete explained. “Looking back on it, you’re like, ‘Ahh, come on dude.’ Luckily, a pandemic happened and I got kicked in the balls and had to sit with all of my immature irrational decisions. I was so happy when they said that SNL was going to come back because I was literally sitting with my own thoughts and I was feeling really bad. I was really excited just to work and see people. I had a different outlook for this season and moving forward. I think I’ve been able to have a lot of fun and I just really appreciate it. Not working at all really sucks.”

46th Season Of SNL

Pete has landed his role in the SNL thanks to former SNL star Bill Hader, who worked with him on the movie Trewrere.

Prior to joining the cast, he was involved in various MTV programs, including Guy Code, and in 2013, his first comedy show appeared on television.

SNL recently wrapped up its 46th season on May 22, with broadcast members like Michael Che, Colin jose, Aidy Bryant, Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong and others.

The show has not yet announced which cast members will return for season 47 in the fall of 2021.
