Selena Gomez Takes Another Break From Social Media After Hailey Bieber Fiasco

Selena Gomez stated on Thursday, February 23, that she will be taking another hiatus from social media.

During a TikTok Live session, the singer and actress sneered and stated, “I’m gonna be taking a second from social media ’cause this is a little silly.” She continued, “And I’m 30. I’m too old for this, so. But I love you guys so much!” before concluding, “I will see you guys sooner than later. I just, I’m gonna just take a break from everything.”

The statement comes just one month after Selena’s four-year Instagram exile ended. That also comes after she spoke out about the “bullying” allegations leveled against Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner this week.

Selena initially reacted on a TikTok video by a newly converted Selena Gomez fan, who said she’s now a Selenator after hearing that the model, 26, and makeup entrepreneur, 25, are bullying her. “I’ll be honest: I haven’t had much of an opinion of Selena Gomez in general…however, now, with these mean girls coming at her f throat, disgusting, despicable behavior from the Nepo babies…I am now the biggest Selentor to ever exist,” the new fan said in her TikTok.

Selena seems to appreciate the encouragement, commenting, “I love you,” beneath the image. She then publicly chastised Hailey after a video of her gagging at the mention of Taylor Swift’s name on her previous rapper battle show, Drop the Mic, resurfaced. “So sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game,” she commented on the video.

Selena Supports Kylie Publicly After Fans Criticize Her

Selena emphasized how important her friendship with the 33-year-old music icon is to her in November 2022, admitting she is her “only friend in the industry.” According to Rolling Stone, “I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. I remember feeling like I didn’t belong,” said Selena.

As previously stated, Selena has been the subject of bullying claims this week when Kylie posted Instagram Stories mocking Selena for making fun of herself for over-laminating her brows. Shortly after sharing the TikTok Story images, in which she also referred to Bella Hadid as “pretty,” Kylie posted a selfie with the caption “this was an accident???” scrawled directly over her own brows. She then uploaded a screenshot of herself FaceTiming Hailey while they both stared at each other’s brows.

Fans were outraged by the posts, but Kylie said they were “reaching.” Selena also spoke out about the matter, siding with Kylie. “@kyliejenner, I agree. It’s all unnecessary”.

Although Selena appeared to put an end to the drama; fans reminded Hailey of the time she posted — and then quickly deleted; — a TikTok video in which she, Kylie’s older sister, Kendall Jenner; and singer Justine Skye mouthed the words to the trending audio that said, “And I’m not saying she deserved it; but I’m saying God’s timing is always right.”

The film was made shortly after Selena was spotted in a swimsuit by the paparazzi; and people assumed it was about her. Hailey instantly denied any wrongdoing; and Selena took to social media earlier this month to express her displeasure with the video.

At this moment, it’s unclear whether Selena is overwhelmed by her fans’ ardent defense of her; or if she, too, feels Kylie and Hailey’s posts are false.
