Selena Gomez Shuts Down Critics By Commenting On Her Shaking Hands

Social media can be a harsh place, and Selena Gomez has learned this the hard way multiple times. However, she took a break because of that but recently she was scrutinized by some fans for posting a TikTok.

She shared her makeup and skincare routine. The video showed the 30-year-old with a slight tremor while applying micellar water, which led to many comments about her physicality. Gomez, who was diagnosed with lupus in 2014, responded to the criticism by reminding her fans that the shakiness was a side effect of the medication she takes for her condition.

The singer wrote in the comments of another TikTok, “Lol I shake because of my medication for lupus. Also, read my disclaimer. I ain’t no pro [laughing face emoji].” The TikTok that sparked the criticism has since been deleted.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation throughout the body, including in the organs. In 2017, Gomez underwent a kidney transplant due to her lupus. In her 2022 documentary, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me, she discussed the effects of her physical and mental health on her life. She talked about waking up in the morning in pain and feeling overwhelmed with emotions. But with the right care, she discovered a treatment that helped her manage her condition.

In addition to lupus, Gomez is also open about her bipolar disorder; which she says started to affect her in her early twenties. She has been to four treatment centers and; shares her journey to help others who may be going through the same thing.

The actress told Rolling Stone last year, “I think when I started hitting my early twenties is when it started to get really dark; when I started to feel like I was not in control of what I was feeling; whether that was really great or really bad.”

Despite the criticism she faced on social media, Selena Gomez continues to be a beacon of hope and inspiration for many. Through her openness about her struggles with mental and physical health; she has shown that it’s okay to not be okay and to seek help when needed.
