Selena Gomez has been thriving in back-to-back project announcements or appearances. She opened up in an interview with Rolling Stone about her next chapter. After the release of her 2020 hit album, Rare, she revealed that she wanted fans to know that ‘this was a journey’ for her.
The singer is looking forward to the next chapter of her life as she has had an incredible year so far. She opened up about her closing chapter which included a lot of things along with her break-up with Justin Bieber. The actress said, “I wanted people to take away that this was a journey and that it was completely closed.”
Selena revealed that she does not want people to see her as hurt and sad. She said she does not want that anymore and that she experienced something real but that part of her is over. The singer’s recent album, Rare was about her vulnerability and a little bit of her journey. It also revealed how she came into terms with her high profile romance.
Justin and Selena had been on-again and off-again for eight years before he married Hailey Bieber. The former couple parted ways back in 2018. However, that is not the only thing that happened in the singer’s life. She suffers from lupus and had a life-threatening surgery. The actress also went to rehab and recently revealed she is bipolar.
Talking about the amount of control she has in the music-producing process, she revealed that she did not have her team in the process. She said she was the one who planned when the music would be released. The producer wanted it to impact her fans as well.
Selena-“I Just Felt It In My Heart”
“I did not have my team or my A&R or my label in the process a lot,” Selena shared. “I controlled what was being sent. It was my idea to release ‘Lose You to Love Me‘ and ‘Look at Her Now’ [back-to-back].” Selena sent her fans into a frenzy after releasing her song Look at Her Now 24 hours after releasing Lose You To Love Me.
The singer revealed that her team was nervous about it because they did not want to take away from both the songs. However, Selena decided to stand firm in her decision and admitted of knowing that Lose You To Love Me will be the bigger song. She said, “I just felt it in my heart.”
Selena also opened up about the process of not being fully natural. She said she was drifting in and out of writing songs as she did not feel as inspired. However, when she decided to go back into the studio, she said she realized it was going to be something special.
“From that point on, I focused on creating more songs that were lyrically about transformation and vulnerability and heartbreak,” she explained. “It felt like [the material] was really, really strong, and I was very happy about it. I think that becoming more involved than I ever have been [in the making of the album] helped me gain confidence and empowered me completely. I took control over what I was going to say, what I was going to do.”
The Rare Beauty founder recently posted a bold picture on Instagram and opened up about finally feeling confident. Selena had undergone life-threatening surgery which needed her to have a kidney transplant.
Selena + Chef Getting A Second Season
Back in 2018, she had made bikini-wear which would hide her scars from the surgery. Cut to 2020, she feels absolutely comfortable embracing her scars and she looked amazing in a teal-blue bikini.
The singer has been busy with a lot of stuff nowadays. Selena has been making the best out of her quarantine time as she just launched her beauty line. She also has been busy filming her own cooking show for HBO Max, Selena + Chef. Selena also announced that she will be a co-executive producer for a comedy series.
HBO Max made the announcement that the show will have another season. Selena gave us a tour of her kitchen as the announcement for the second season came into being. She introduced her fans to her pasts shelves, which she is most excited about, with different kinds of pasta.
Selena’s cooking show, Selena + Chef is available to stream on HBO Max. In season 2, Gomez will continue her cooking adventures at home with a new roster of all-star chefs who will help her whip up delicious dishes. Like in its first season, each chef will highlight a different charity each episode.
The entrepreneur donates $100,000 to the charity of the guest mentor’s choice. “Learning from some of the best chefs in the world has vastly improved my cooking skills, but I have a lot more to learn. I am looking forward to challenging myself in the kitchen on the next season,” the singer said in a statement.
Selena’s Other Major Projects
The singer released her new beauty line, Rare Beauty. Selena Gomez wants fans and followers to know that the launch of the makeup line is not to earn more money for her. She also recently promoted her new movie, The Broken Hearts Gallery, which is premiering this week on select theatres. Selena is the executive producer of the movie, which stars Geraldine Viswanathan and Dacre Montgomery.
Selena Gomez and Blackpink’s highly-anticipated song also dropped. The collaboration was released along with the official music video. Ice Cream was a major hit in TikTok, Spotify, and Apple Music. The fans were thrilled to see the collaboration and a lot of them were left wanting more.
Along with this, Selena also collaborated with the ice cream brand, Serendipity, and the iconic Serendipity3 Restaurants announced on Monday (Aug. 24). The ice cream is customized by Selena as the pint called Cookies & Cream Remix is made with pink vanilla ice cream, crunchy cookie bits, and gobs of gooey fudge.
