Selena Gomez Is In Talks To Star In and Produce The Thriller ‘Dollhouse’

Selena Gomez is set to produce the upcoming psychological horror-thriller, Dollhouse.

The singer will be working behind the camera, however, it is reported that she has her eyes set on the leading role of the thriller movie. The horror flick is written by up-and-coming, Michael Paisley.

Adam Fogelson, the chairman of STXfilms said that the singer’s involvement is an exciting direction for this project. Selena currently works as an executive producer for her own show, Selena+Chef. The chairman shared that teaming Selena with Shawn and Dan’s expertise; in the horror-thriller genre will elevate the production of Dollhouse.

He said they are extremely thrilled by the way this is being developed. The film has already drawn comparison to 2010’s Black Swan. However, they have kept the plot of the film under wraps.

The Rare Beauty founder has previously executive produced 13 Reasons Why, Hotel Translyvania 4, Broken Hearts Gallery, and Living Undocumented. Selena has been keeping super busy during quarantine as she films her own show Selena+Chef and also launched her beauty make-up line, Rare Beauty.

She launched the line back in September and has received a lot of praise for the products and the message behind it. In an initiative to raise awareness for mental health, she recently admitted in a candid chat that she has been feeling a little depressed lately.

In an Instagram live with Dr. Vivek Murthy, who was a surgeon general from 2014-2017, the actress marked World Mental Health Day. When asked about how she dealt with the difficulty of being in quarantine; she admitted that she could not deal with it in the beginning. The singer said she went into a bit of depression as her job includes a lot of traveling and connecting with people.

Selena’s Goal to Raising Funds For Mental Health

Selena explained, “In the beginning, I couldn’t deal with it that well. I kind of went into a bit of a depression,’ the entertainer said. ‘My job is a lot of travel, connecting with people, making people happy, and that makes me happy, so it has been a struggle.”

She further added that she went into a place where she was writing and being active. The actress said it forced her to have that time. The Wolves singer said, “I’ve been able to spend time with those quality people a lot more than I ever have, and I’m spending a lot more time with my family.”

However, Selena said that seeing her projects coming together and returning to recording, has made her feel at ease and helped during these tough times. She explained that she is fully coming out again; and she thinks she had to handle it the way she needed it handled. The singer added, “I got through it with the right people and doing the right things and doing the right steps to not make me go crazy.”

She shared her goal of using her platform to push for mental health funding. Selena said she has worked on personal things including her beauty line that has a goal of reaching $100 million in 10 years for mental health.

In addition to Selena’s charity work, she has also found the Rare Impact Fund. It is linked to her new beauty line, Rare Beauty, which will be launched by September 3rd. This fund will help individuals in underserved communities get access to mental health services and support.
