Selena Gomez and Blackpink’s highly-anticipated song has finally dropped. The collaboration was released on Friday along with the official music video.
The gorgeous ladies get flirty in pastel-themed visual which has Selena wearing a red-and-white striped two-piece, white sailor hat, and gloves as she drives an ice cream truck. K-Pop stars, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa, are all dressed up in stylish colorful outfits as well. They gave us a lot of choreography in a number of different settings.
“Come a little closer ’cause you looking thirsty/I’ma make it better, sip it like a Slurpee,” Gomez sings. ‘Ice Cream‘ is Blackpink’s first song after their superhit, ‘How You Like That‘. The song was written by Selena, as well as fellow pop icon Ariana Grande, Victoria Monét, TEDDY, Tommy Brown, Steven Franks, Bekuh BOOM, and 24.
Blackpink was featured on Lady Gaga’s song, Sour Candy back in May, for her album, Chromatica. Both Selena and Blackpink had been teasing fans the entire week with teaser videos or posters. Selena took it a step further by collaborating with Serendipity to make her own ice cream inspired by the song.
Along with this, Selena is also collaborating with the ice cream brand, Serendipity and the iconic Serendipity3 Restaurants announced on Monday (Aug. 24). The ice cream is customized by Selena as the pint called Cookies & Cream Remix is made with pink vanilla ice cream, crunchy cookie bits, and gobs of gooey fudge.
Selena announced this collaboration on her social media handle, as she eats the ice cream out of the container. The singer says it tastes like heaven and went on to explain her excitement. She said as she grew up, she loved the Serendipity restaurant.

In an interview with Zane Lowe, Blackpink revealed their collab was very natural. They said they were aware of Selena and big fans of her. Both of them are also under the same record label. “When this song came out on song cam, we had it for a while, and we had the idea to have Selena on it because we obviously knew she would fit into it right away,” the group expressed.
“I couldn’t be more excited to become a partner in their expanding brand,” said Gomez said in a press statement. “For the Cookies & Cream remix, I wanted to put my own personal spin on this classic flavor by making it with pink vanilla ice cream as a nod to my girls Blackpink and celebrate our new song ‘Ice Cream.’”
President and COO of Serendipity Brands, Sal Pesce, also shared her excitement and said as a “forever” fan, Selena has brought a fresh perspective. He added that she also brought a whole new set of fans to help them take over the decadent ice cream category with our innovative, indulgent mixes.
Cookies & Cream Remix will be available on the “Ice Cream” collab’s release date (August 28) in supermarkets, convenience stores and other food retailers across the country and online at SerendipityBrands.com.
Selena also revealed that she is a big fan and that she feels grateful to be collaborating with them. She said it is a big dream that came true for her. Further talking about working with them, Selena expressed that the girls are cool and she loves their music. The Lose You To Love Me singer said, “.I had such a good time with them over FaceTime, and when we could talk.”
‘Ice Cream’ Teasers All Week
The former Disney Channel star, meanwhile, released her third solo studio album, Rare, in January. The 28-year-old singer has been keeping busy amid quarantine. Her HBO Max cooking series, Selena + Chef, was also renewed for a second season on Thursday, and her Rare Beauty makeup brand will drop on Sept. 3.
YG Entertainment has been teasing fans almost every day by teasing a poster with BlackPink and Selena. Selena is seen smiling ear-to-ear as she dons a candy-striped pair of separates. She paired it with a sailor hat, white gloves, chunky gold hoops, and wind-tousled hair. The poster further contains the release date of the song which is on August 28 at midnight EST/1:00 p.m. KST.
Fans got a look at each member of Blackpink, Jisoo, Rosé, Jennie, and Lisa. The group dons similar vintage fashion, rocking their own ’70s-inspired looks filled with lots of lots of bright colors, flower power, and macrame.
In another little tease, fans got a small clip where Selena and Blackpink talk via video call. Selena says she has been a big fan of Blackpink because of which this feels like a dream. The love-filled Facetime call has Selena and Blackpink fans going even more crazy.
“Ice Cream” is set to be featured as the second pre-release single off Blackpink’s long-awaited debut album, Blackpink: The Album. The group’s first full-length studio set will be released Oct. 2 via YG Entertainment.
