Ronda Rousey Discloses Original WWE Presentation Plans

Ronda Rousey didn’t really expect her 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble victory would make people happy. The WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion recently have spoken with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier, saying that the overwhelmingly feedback she obtained from the St. Louis, MO crowd completely changed the plot on her and WWE’s plans for her come back.

Rousey continued, “Well, they popped for her real big, so she’s a babyface now.” The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion stated that she went to the next WWE Raw expecting to continue her intended heel run but was told, No, no, no, no, you need to smile, you need to stop being a b—-h, much to Rousey’s chagrin.

Rousey cackled, “I love being a b—-h.” It’s my bitchery outlet. So they’re like, Yeah, you need to back up a little bit. On May 8th, Rousey won the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship by defeating Charlotte Flair in an IQuitmatch at WrestleMania Backlash. This is the first reign of the former WWE Raw Women’s Champion with the title.

Prior to the Rumble, Rousey had not even fought for WWE since April of 2019 and claims that she was so concentrated on her come back and the potential negative reaction that she missed a lot of the Royal Rumble match. She explained, “I came out with my guard up, and I think I didn’t get to enjoy that moment because I was guarded.”

Rousey and Natalya

Rousey explains blocking out the big ovation she received from the audience. I guess I missed out on fully appreciating that moment because I was awaiting the worst from people. WWE held a six-pack challenge to determine the number one contender to Ronda Rousey’s SmackDown Women’s Title. Natalya won the match, which also featured Shotzi, Aliyah, Shayna Baszler, Xia Li, and Raquel Rodriguez. She wedged Shotzi to become the official next contender to Rousey’s title.

Rousey and Natalya had a face-to-face confrontation following the match. The two women have a long history on WWE TV, having tagged each other several times in 2018 and 2019. Natalya was also Rousey’s training partner when she switched from MMA to pro wrestling. Several other WWE Superstars, in addition to Rousey, have trained at Natalya and Tyson Kidd’s invite-only Dungeon in Florida.

As of defeating Charlotte Flair in an I Quit Match at last month’s WrestleMania Backlash premium live event, Rousey has held the SmackDown Women’s Title. Her only title defence since then came on SmackDown on May 13, when she defeated Raquel Rodriguez after releasing an open challenge.
