Rohit Shetty’s much-anticipated film Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif has shifted its release date. The big film was all set to hit the screens on March 24, 2020. However, amidst the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the makers have postponed the film’s release. The trailer of the film was released recently and it completely took the internet by storm. The cop thriller also has the extended cameos of Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh as Singham and Simmba respectively. However, looking at the current situation, it is the best move by the makers to postpone the film.
In their statement, the makers wrote that the film was postponed keeping in mind the safety of the audience. The makers have not finalized a new release date yet.
Here is the official statement released by Rohit Shetty himself:
World Health Organization (WHO) has declared COVID-19 as a global pandemic. Till now, India has tested 74 positive cases of coronavirus, including the death of an individual in Karnataka, as reported by Deccan Herald. The coronavirus outbreak has affected the entertainment industry big time all over the world. Many international events, concerts and world tours are cancelled after the spread of epidemic disease across the globe.
It seems that not just Sooryavanshi, many other upcoming films will see a shift in their release date. This is the second time Rohit Shetty’s film has seen a shift in its release date. Last year, the makers had announced to release the film on Eid 2020. But the film had to change its release date to avert box office clash with Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt’s now-shelved film Inshallah. Not just the entertainment industry, but many other industries have faced a huge setback after the global tension of coronavirus.
