RM, Suga, j-hope written BTS Song “Boy With Luv” Becomes The First Korean Song To Hit 1 Billion On Spotify

BTS’ latest album “Proof” debuted on Spotify with 56.7 million cumulative streams, recording the biggest album debut by a Korean act. BTS also holds the record for the most-streamed K-Pop song on Spotify with Dynamite. And now BTS’ Boy With Luv ft. Halsey has become the first Korean-language song to reach one billion streams on Spotify.

BTS’ sixth extended play, Map of the Soul: Persona, featured the song as its lead single. Big Hit Entertainment released it on April 12th, 2019. The song’s music video attracted over 74.6 million views on its first day of release, making it the most watched online music video in 24 hours at the time. In June, the RIAA granted the song a Platinum certification. Up until “Dynamite,” “Boy with Luv” held the record for the song with the most South Korean music show victories following the 2000s with 21 victories. “Boy with Luv” debuted and peaked at No. 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, becoming the group’s highest Top 10 entry following “Fake Love”.

“Boy With Luv” was first placed on the real-time charts of six significant music websites, including Soribada, Genie, Naver, Bugs, Mnet, and Flo, on April 12 after its release. The song achieved a “all kill” on April 13 morning, according to reports, ranking first in real-time charts across all digital platforms, including Melon.

It was revealed by BigHit Music last year that all BTS members will be enlisting in the military. Jin was the first member to do, who joined the military in December of last year. It was also confirmed that in the meantime all BTS members will release solo music. j-hope was the first BTS member to go solo, followed by RM & Jin. Jimin is rumored to make his solo debut this month.
