Ricardo Rodriguez, a former WWE superstar, has announced his return to rehab

Ricardo Rodriguez (Jesus Rodriguez), a former WWE on-air and in-ring performer, has entered treatment for alcohol abuse. Rodriguez has previously spoken openly about his struggles with alcoholism, announcing on May 3, 2021 that he had just completed a year of sobriety following a stint in rehab. Ricardo updated his status on Twitter this week, announcing that he will be returning for treatment.

“I tripped. I’ll be returning to rehab. “Though until notice, I’m removing from all bookings,” Rodriguez wrote. Ricky Morton, a WWE Hall of Famer, offered Rodriguez some words of support. “It’s a b—-h this addiction thing is.. just when you think you’ve beaten it,” he replied in response.

KiLynn King, an AEW wrestler, also tweeted her support for Rodriguez. “The worst part is the damn guilt trip and the burned bridges,” he replied. I hope to be able to make apologies one day.”

Rodriguez is in the business since 2006 and has had a variety of positions, including wrestler, ring announcer, manager, commentator, trainer, and referee, to name a few. He was signed to a WWE developmental agreement in 2010 to serve as a wrestler in FCW, but he soon switched to managing. On the August 20, 2010 episode of SmackDown, he made his first appearance as Alberto Del Rio’s personal ring announcer, with Del Rio defeating Rey Mysterio in his premiere.

Rodriguez wrestled on the main roster momentarily while wearing a mask and also provided commentary for the Spanish announce team. On July 30, 2014, WWE released him, and he went back to the independent circuit. The former Chimaera and El Local aided WWE Hall of Famer The Great Khali in establishing and running his Continental Wrestling Entertainment promotion/school in India. In October of last year, Rodriguez had a tryout with the AEW Spanish commentary team.
