Rhodes Will Compete For The WWE United States Championship In post-WrestleMania Backlash Episode Of RAW

Cody Rhodes will be given his first WWE title shot since his come back to the company. WWE has announced that Rhodes will compete for the WWE United States Championship against Theory in tonight’s post-WrestleMania Backlash episode of RAW.

On Sunday, Rhodes defeated Seth Rollins at WrestleMania Backlash in a rematch from WrestleMania 38, which Rhodes also won. As of this composing, no other fights have been declared for tonight’s RAW.

Rhodes Hit A Disaster Kick On Rollins

Toward the end of a big event, Rhodes hit a Disaster Kick on Rollins, which has been accompanied by Orton’s RKO.

Rhodes and Orton last appeared in a wrestling ring together on the May 26, 2014 episode of RAW, when The Rhodes Brothers were defeated in a tag team match by Batista and Orton. On the September 2, 2013 show of RAW, Rhodes as well as Orton had their final one-on-one match. On that night, Orton triumphed with a victory.

At the upcoming WrestleMania Backlash premium live event, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton both have big matches scheduled. While RK-Bro will confront The Usos in a title unification match, Rhodes will face Rollins in a rematch of WrestleMania 38.

Rhodes is indeed the number 2 babyface on RAW, trailing only former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley. Whether he is first or second on the ranking, it is obvious that the organization believes in Cody in the coming years.

Cody has already been operating on the both WWE brands off-screen. He was also spotlighted in the dark match title match segment of WWE SmackDown. Where he defeated Seth Rollins after three forks in the road. Since his return at WrestleMania 38, he has now won several consecutive matches.
