Rain, Kim Bum, Uee, & Apink’s Son Naeun Share Reasons To Watch “Ghost Doctor”

The primary cast of tvN’s “Ghost Doctor” has given behind-the-scenes details and highlighted significant moments from the drama!

“Ghost Doctor,” directed by Boo Sung Chul (“Heirs”), is an upcoming fantasy medical drama about two doctors who are worlds apart in terms of their histories, skills, and personalities, but who end up merging bodies and spirits. Rain, Kim Bum, Uee, and Apink’s Son Naeun star in the drama, and they all discussed essential elements to look forward to in “Ghost Doctor.”

“Since it’s my first medical drama, I had a hard time with the long lines and difficult medical terminology,” Rain, who plays genius thoracic surgeon Cha Young Min, said. He continued, “I think ‘Ghost Doctor’ is a family drama that a family can watch together comfortably. There are fantasy aspects mixed with thriller aspects. Additionally, since it captures the joys and sorrows of various characters, I think viewers will be able to enjoy the drama that much more if they follow the characters. I guarantee it’s a drama you’ll watch until the very end if you tune in just once, so please look forward to it lots.”

Go Seung Tak, a silver-spoon resident, is played by Kim Bum. He shared that the most unforgettable scene for him is the one where GoSeung Tak and Cha Young Min officially begin their cooperation. The actor further added that he would personally believe this is what causes Go Seung Tak to confront a new aspect of himself as well as a new chapter in the story.

“I also think this is an anecdote that’s unique to our drama, which makes it that much more memorable.”

He added that when one hears just the title, they can imagine it will be a medical drama or a fantasy horror drama with ghosts. Kim further explained that the drama is about ‘stories of people living’ as told by those who haven’t died yet. He believes this is a drama even those who are put off by the genre will love and watch.

Uee plays Jang Se Jin, a neurosurgeon who also happens to be Cha Young Min’s ex-girlfriend. “One funny thing on the set was that there were a lot of times when I had to act like I couldn’t see Cha Young Min or other ghosts. However, I’d subconsciously notice them and burst into laughter; which led to a couple of bloopers,” Uee shared as a story from the set.

She further added that the drama’s title is Ghost Doctor but she believes it will be entertaining to figure out; who is a ghost and who is a doctor. The actress continued, “Also, the chemistry between Cha Young Min, Go Seung Tak; Jang Se Jin, and Oh Soo Jung is important; so if you watch while focusing on that, you’ll feel like time is flying by.”

Oh Soo Jung, played by Son Naeun, is an emergency room intern; and the actress told a similar experience to Uee’s. “It’s not easy to think of [Cha Young Min] as someone who isn’t there,” she said. “I also think this is an anecdote that’s unique to our drama, which makes it that much more memorable.”

She continued, “If you focus on the hidden special relationships between the characters and their individual charms; you’ll be able to enjoy watching the drama even more. In addition to that, there are many elements that make ‘Ghost Doctor’ different; so I hope you give lots of attention to each episode.”

“Ghost Doctor” will air on tvN on January 3 at 10:30 p.m. KST and will be available to stream on Viki with subtitles.
