Pokimane Explains Why She Thinks Twitch Ban For DMCA Strikes Is “Totally Fair”

Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys has spoken out in support of her Twitch ban, stating why she thinks it’s “absolutely fair” that she was banned for watching Avatar and other famous TV shows in recent days.

These past few days, Twitch has been flooded with one thing: the contentious “TV show” meta, in which celebrities spend their whole streams watching long-running series.

Streamers have been viewing anything from Gordon Ramsay’s cookery shows to classic anime franchises such as Naruto, Food Wars, and Hunter x Hunter, as well as the cult, show Avatar The Last Airbender, which got Pokimane banned. The surprise ban on January 8 sent the fox among the chicks.

While many have predicted “the death of Twitch,” banned star Pokimane has defended her suspension, insisting it was the correct thing to do.

Over her own unexpected suspension, the Moroccan-Canadian streamer sided with Twitch.
Many people were surprised when Anys, who was released from her 48-hour suspension late on January 9, supported her ban shortly after she was prohibited from the streaming service.

She was, in fact, solidly in Amazon’s camp throughout the entire ordeal. The Twitch streamer admitted that her suspension “didn’t surprise” her and that she doesn’t think it’s “unfair” either – it was something she expected to happen sooner rather than later.

it was inevitable publishers would take action, on me or someone else, during this Twitch react meta,” the star stated on Twitter on January 9. Pokimane’s now-infamous January 8 show, in which she watched Avatar The Last Airbender for more than six hours straight, marked the first time the Twitch star had entered the TV meta in any significant way.

She streamed in ‘Just Chatting,’ which received 30.9k views. Her stream headline, ironically, was “We’re finally gonna do it… hopefully nothin crazy happens.”

Several Avatar The Last Airbender DMCA claims led to the star’s 48-hour suspension. On Monday, January 10, Pokimane is anticipated to resume her usual Twitch broadcasting schedule, during which she will address everything related to the “TV meta,” her suspension, and future broadcast plans.

“I will chat more about this situation on Monday,” the Moroccan-Canadian star promised her worried fans. “[I can] further elaborate on the situation then.”
