In the list of amazing actors including Andrew Scott, Harry Styles, Phoebe Waller-Bridge has finally landed on Donald Glover. The actress is now teaming up with Donald for a new Amazon Studios TV show that will allow them to be the next Brad and Angelina.
The duo will be starring in the remake of the 2005 movie, Mr. & Mrs. Smith which included Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at the time. This venture will drop on Amazon Prime Video in 2022. According to reports, Francesca Sloane is co-creating the new Mr. & Mrs. Smith for Amazon Studios and New Regency.
The original movie revolves around a married couple who are the world’s deadliest assassins. However, their identities have been kept hidden from the other. The catch is when they are tasked with killing each other.
Donald announced the collaboration with an Instagram story video of him as he started to do the floss dance before it cut to Phoebe in her pajamas. The actress leans against a door frame and crosses her shoulders as Paul Anka’s Put Your Head On My Shoulder plays.
The head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke said in a statement that Donald and Phoebe are talented creators and performers. She said, “Talk about the dream team! Donald and Phoebe are two of the most talented creators and performers in the world. It’s truly a dream for us, as it will be for our global audience, to have these two forces of nature collaborating as a powerhouse creative team.”

Phoebe & Donald’s Achievements
The head continued as she described Mr. & Mrs. Smith as an “iconic property”. She shared how they cannot wait to see how Donald, Phoebe, and Francesca make it on their own. Meanwhile, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer who are a part of the New Regency have both worked with Donald.
They have worked together in Guava Island, along with Rihanna. The creatives shared, “We all started talking about other projects to do together and when he suggested the idea of a new take and iteration on the New Regency film, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, we jumped at the chance to get going right away.”
They further added that Phoebe and her company Wells Street Films being their collaborator as well as the co-star takes everything up another level. It makes the project worthy of reimagining for new audiences and fans of the original movie.
Phoebe signed a huge deal with Amazon in 2019 after she hit TV Shows Fleabag and Killing Eve, took home seven Emmys Awards. The actress won Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Comedy Series for the quirky show, Fleabag.
Ever the multihyphenate, Donald, also known as the musician Childish Gambino, won the Emmys for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2017 for his groundbreaking series Atlanta. The creator and star also won a Golden Globe that year.
