Orlando Bloom has revealed that his relationship with Katy Perry had its own ups and downs.
In an interview with News Corp Australia, the actor described the couple’s journey as a ‘rollercoaster of ups and downs’. The pair began dating back in 2016 and got engaged in 2018 on Valentine’s day.
Orlando said he wishes he could say that everything was joyful and happy. He adds like anything in life, their relationship has also taken its course and gone through a rollercoaster of ups and downs.
Orlando recalled his first meeting with Katy at the afterparty of Golden Globes 2016 held by Harvey Weinstein. He reminisces the first time he ever laid eyes on fiance Katy Perry. The couple is expecting their first child together any time soon. He mentioned that he winked at her with a plate of burgers.
Orlando described that he was on the stage gazing into the audience and he saw Katy sitting amongst the crowd. He said she was wearing this beautiful pink dress and he thought to himself, ‘Wow’. ‘So I stood on the stage, gazing out at the audience and there she was, just sitting amongst the crowd. And I remember she was wearing this beautiful pink dress and I was just like ‘Wow; I think that’s Katy Perry,” the actor said.
He continued saying that he made a beeline towards her by walking over to legendary thespian Denzel Washington. Washington was sitting next to Katy with fast food platters. Orlando told The Mirror: ‘She was sitting at a table with Denzel Washington, who had just been sent over a box of hamburgers.
Orlando went on to explain saying he asked Washington for one of the burgers. He gave it to him and that is when Orlando winked at Katy and the rest is history. The couple danced together at the afterparty hosted by now-disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. They chatted and danced together forming a close bond.
The couple then got together and broke up in 2017 and reconciled in 2018 again. But to our surprise, Orlando popped the question to Katy on Valentine’s day, taking their relationship a step ahead. Cut to now, when the adorable pair are expecting a child together.
The entire industry knows that Orlando lost his dog, Mighty, who he had been searching for a few days. His pet disappeared during a walk two weeks ago. His collar was found signaling that he is dead. However, Orlando hopes that this incident proves to Katy what a good husband and father he will be.
Orlando had married model Miranda Kerr in 2010 but separated in 2013. They share a nine-year-old son, Flynn, together. While Katy was also married to Rusell Brand in 2010 but separated the following year.
The actor revealed in his interview with Sunday Today last year that he does not plan on getting divorced a second time. ‘It’s important to me that we are aligned. I’ve been married and divorced and I don’t want to do it again,’ he said. ‘And we’re both fully aware of that.’
Orlando described Katy as remarkable and that he is always impressed and encouraged because of her.
