Olivia Rodrigo Just Dropped Her Debut Album, Sour

Olivia Rodrigo has finally released her album and given us more songs to sing to. This is her highly anticipated debut album that she released on Friday, May 21 via Geffen Records.

The album contains 11 tracks which include her previously released hit Drivers License. Her first song spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Even the second song released from her debut album, Deja Vu and her latest song Good 4 U are a top 10.

It is no news that Olivia is a huge Taylor Swift fan which she has constantly reminded us of throughout Taylor’s re-released album. She has given a surprise song for Swifties as well. The fourth track of her album, 1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back interpolates New Year’s Day from the Grammy winner’s 2017 album, Reputation. Taylor and her frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff have writing credits on the song as well.

The young pop star revealed that she did not want to do this initially, referring to the heartbreaking anthems she recorded for the album. She had tried to add in some love songs but it did not feel like an authentic fit.

Olivia said, “I’m a songwriter who writes from a place of authenticity and truth. And truthfully, love and happiness and everything weren’t feelings that I was feeling at the time. And what’s the point of putting out a record if it isn’t something that you feel is important to say to people?”

“Did you guys know that the world doesn’t revolve around you?”

Olivia Rodrigo released a new song called, “déjà vu” on April 1. And this has turned into another drama including Joshua Bassett. The song is about an ex starting a new relationship and seeing the former beau experience all these moments that had been shared with someone else. Later in the day, the actor took to TikTok to share a new video with his followers.

He said that he is freaking out because he just found “this” out. The singer shared, “Did you guys know that the world doesn’t revolve around you? Isn’t that crazy?” it was clearly sarcastic and he gave no explanation for the post which led to some fans assuming this was in response to Olivia’s song.

A follower tweeted, “Joshua’s TikTok today was DEFO shade at Olivia”. Meanwhile, another commented, “Hmm. I think I’ve heard this before? Or maybe it’s just deja vu? Anyone else?” But since it was on April 1st, some assumed this might just be an April Fool’s prank. Others argued that people shouldn’t just make assumptions.

“This is kinda getting out of hand,” one commenter wrote. “Not everything Josh says is about Liv and the other way around as well. Let them live their lives, geez.” Olivia and Joshua star together in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. They had previously sparked dating rumours.
