As a tribute to Olivia Newton-John, the 1978 musical Grease will be released in theatres. Olivia Newton-John stars in the film in the lead. Only a few cities are reportedly getting the movie this Friday at AMC theatres. The proceeds from the film will go toward the benefits of breast cancer research.
Many US theatres will run her beloved 1978 hit movie Grease on the big screen as an honor, Adam Aron, the CEO of AMC theatres, tweeted. Further adding he said that $5 for public admission and $1 from each ticket sold would go toward supporting breast cancer research.
A report from Variety states that around 135 screens in the USA will screen the classic musical film in the AMC locations nationwide.

Olivia Newton-John died at the age of 73 on August 8th, 2022. The cause of her death comes after battling multiple cases of breast cancer. Newton-John had an impeccable career in the entertainment industry. Her mesmerizing performance in the movie Grease has been engraved as her iconic work in the history of world cinema. Her role as Sandy Olsson in the movie is still remembered as one of the best roles in her career. She was seen opposite John Travolta in the musical film.
1992 was the beginning of Olivia’s battle with breast cancer, and that year, when she received her initial diagnosis, she made the public aware of it. the Australian actress decided to fund the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre based in Australia. She actively participated in the research for cancer treatment.
John Travolta the co-star of Olivia in the musical film shared a post on his social media handles with a heartfelt message in order to pay a tribute to her. The message read “My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better“. Further adding he also mentioned that she made an incredible impact on everyone and that he loves her so much. “We will see you down the road and we will all be together again.” He signed off by saying that this message is from the person who saw her from the first moment.” Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!”
