Nike has given the DIY aesthetic a shot-solo. We have seen a number of successful collaborative collections with sacai. Because of this, the anticipation for the sacai Vaporwaffle’s release has been increasing.
Their trend on the deconstructed look has been embodied by the Nike Waffle One. It had been revealed earlier this year in January and since then various colors have developed. However, they have finally decided on a release date and also unveiled a women’s exclusive arrangement that pairs red with lilac.
The pair includes an ultra-fine mesh in Active Fuschia to assemble the uppers while they used the shape of the heritage style Nike Waffle as the base. The mesh incorporates the red body underneath. This shade also colors the suede lace stays and overlays at the toe.
Meanwhile, the red side Swoosh interrupts the mesh. This is partially covered by the purple suede overlay at the heel. The heel also encompasses a red plastic counter which mimics the look of a triple-stacked sole. This detail is extremely similar to the heel counter on the UNDERCOVER Daybreak. Along with a coconut milk foam midsole, the women’s exclusive is rounded out.
There is also the addition of a Black Waffle pattern underfoot for friction and retro styling. Here’s a better look at the Nike Waffle One below. The pair will be available on Nike.com on May 13th.
