Nicolas Cage Will No Longer Feature In Amazon TV Drama Tiger King

Nicolas Cage will no longer play the role of Joe Exotic in Tiger King in the Amazon TV drama because the management team of the show thinks the story is “out of relevance” now.

The Oscar-winning actor portrayed the character of the owner of a zoo in a small series for Amazon broadcasting service.

What Did Cage Say?

He told entertainment tabloid Variety that he read “two excellent scripts” for this program.

“But I think Amazon finally felt it was a thing of the past because it took so long for them to come together,” he commented.

“They felt at one point that it was lightning in a bottle, but that point has since faded into the distance and it’s no longer relevant.”

What Next?

There are rumors that the Tiger King series could be given to other broadcasters and forums, according to reports in Hollywood, although it is unclear whether Cage will stay as a cast member.

Another TV drama about Nicolas Cage is still going on, however, featuring Hedwig and John Cameron Mitchell of Angry Inch as Exotic opposite Saturday Night Live and Ghostbusters actress Kate McKinnon.

That series is produced by the US streaming network service NBC Peacock.

Upcoming Projects Of Nicolas

A documentary about the famous Exotic, polygamous, gun-wielding man, who is currently serving 22 years in prison for trying to hire two mischievous men to kill Baskin, became a fan-favorite on Netflix last year.

There has been a strong speculation that Netflix will make a second season, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Cage, meanwhile, will soon be seen grappling with a very different kind of animal in a film called Pig, which Variety called a “strange, sad porcine drama” in which the actor gives “his best performance in years”.
