Miley Cyrus Says She Still Loves Ex-Husband, Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus has revealed that she still loves ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth. The singer opened up in an interview with Howard Stern and shared that she and Liam never planned on getting married.

She revealed that after the tragic bushfires destroyed her Malibu house back in 2018, she had to reassess things. The singer shared, “I don’t know if we ever really thought we were actually going to get married”. The Hannah Montana alum revealed how she clung on to everything she had left of the house.

Miley revealed that was him and her and she really does and did love him very much. She said, “’I just clung to what I had left of that house, which was me and him, and I really do and did love him very, very, very much.” The former couple had tied the knot in a private ceremony back in December 2018. However, they went their separate ways in August 2019.

A source revealed at the time that Miley and Liam had agreed to separate. The source added how they both are ever-evolving and changing as partners and individuals. Because of which they decided that it is in their best interest to focus on themselves and their careers.

The singer had opened up about her relationship with The Hunger Games actor on a podcast in August. She revealed that when they decided to split for good, it felt like death. “I had a very public, very big breakup that was over a 10-year span of a relationship… It’s like death when you lose a love that deep. It feels like a death,” she confessed.

Miley’s Worldwide Romance

The singer added that sometimes it feels easier because the person is still walking on earth. Ever since they split up, Liam has been in a relationship with Gabriella Brooks since last December. Miley also started dating Brody Jenner’s ex-wife, Kaitlynn Carter but they went their separate ways in September 2019.

The singer then went ahead and was dating Cody Simpson in October 2019 before splitting up in August. After Miley’s candid chat on the podcast, she opened up about more of her relationship with Joe Rogan.

Although the singer never referred to him by name, she did talk about how hard it was dealing with people’s perceptions of her. How she initially struggled letting go of the relationship. And what she’s looking for now as a newly-single woman.

Cyrus and Hemsworth, who had quite a public relationship, ignited their romance on the set of their film The Last Song in 2008. What followed was an on and off relationship. Miley and Liam were engaged from 2012 to 2013 and split for several years thereafter. The couple ended up rekindling their romance in 2016 before tying the knot in 2018. However, a few months into their marriage in August 2019, they officially separated, citing irreconcilable differences.

“I Recently Just Went Through A Very Public Divorce That F***Ing Sucked”

“I recently just went through a very public divorce that f***ing sucked,” she started. “What really sucked about it wasn’t the fact that me and someone that I loved realized that we don’t love each other the way that we used to anymore. That’s okay. I can accept that. I can’t accept the villainizing and all those stories.”

Cyrus went on to emphasize that her separation from Hemsworth, and her subsequent relationships didn’t happen overnight.

“It’s just amazing to me that the public kind of thinks that there’s no gap of time that they didn’t see that could possibly be what led to this. Like, it’s not ‘one day you were happy on the carpet and the next day you were making out with your friend [Kaitlynn Carter] in Italy! What the fuck? There was a lot of time in between that that you didn’t see.”

Miley is referring to her very brief but public relationship with lifestyle blogger, Kaitlynn. The duo sparked romance rumors shortly after the pop star’s breakup, as photos surfaced showing them locking lips in Italy. Before either of them could publicly confirm the news, reports revealed that they had parted ways. Miley has previously spoken about how she struggled with being portrayed as someone who had cheated.
